Ex-Raiders player and strength coach, Marv Marinovich dies at 81.

Marv Marinovich, a former NFL lineman and strength coach, died on December 3, 2020.

He had been battling Alzheimer’s and was in hospice in Southern California.

Marinovich played briefly for the Raiders but he made an impact as a strength and conditioning coach for the team. Many NFL players and professional athletes were trained by Marinovich, such as Steve Finley, Jason Sehorn, Tyson Chandler, Dwight Lowery, BJ Penn, and Troy Polamalu.

Marinovich learned the Eastern Bloc training method, which focuses on training for speed and flexibility. Much of his work became the basis for modern core – and swimming-pool-based conditioning programs. He had been applying his training techniques to his children that he will be remembered for his strict and regimented raising of Todd, who was a quarterback at USC and Los Angeles Raiders.

He is survived by his two sons, his daughter Traci Marinovich Grove, his brother Gary, and several grandchildren.
